“Marcelo Zarvos is the genius behind the massive soundtrack” thetealmango
"full of powerful imagery and performances, but the film's story is also given life by a stirring score composed by Marcelo Zarvos.” screenrant
Peter, a slave, flees a plantation in Louisiana after he was whipped within an inch of his life. He has to outwit cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on a torturous journey north.
The film was inspired by the life of a former slave immortalized in horrifying photos of his back, which was covered in spiderwebbing keloid scars from repeated whippings. The photos taken in 1863, of 'Whipped Peter,’ were taken during a Union Army medical examination, and first appeared in Harper's Weekly.
Score written, produced and performed by Brazilian pianist/composer, 2x Emmy nominee, Marcelo Zarvos (You Don't Know Jack, Taking Chance, Kissing Jessica Stein, Fences, Wonder, The Affair, Ray Donovan, A Journal for Jordan, The Good Shepherd, Enough Said, Dark Waters)
